About Our Candles

aboutourcandles

Aroma Seize non-toxic candles are environmentally responsible for you and the earth. Our candles are made with American soy wax, non-toxic, phthalate free fragrance and essential oils, and lead free cotton wicks. Each candle is specially formulated to give you the longest, cleanest burn with unique aromas to create a special ambiance.

Did you know? Our candles can also be used as massage candles. Just scoop out the rich oil blend and rub it right onto the skin.

Caution: Do not pour hot massage candle oil directly onto skin.

What is Soy Wax and Why do we Use It?

Paraffin and petroleum-derived waxes release chemicals into the air when burned, even if they are “premium grade.” It’s better to choose clean-burning soy wax or beeswax when selecting your candles. At Aroma Seize we use 100% soy wax in all of our candles. Many candles are a blend of paraffin and another wax but will call it a “beeswax” candle, for instance, so read your labels or reach out to the brand if you’re not sure. Make sure that any candles you use are 100% soy or beeswax candles.

More About Our Soy: Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it a solid at room temperature. The leftover bean husks are commonly used as animal feed.

The U.S. grows the vast majority of the world’s soy beans, primarily in Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana.

Soy’s greatest advantage is that it is completely renewable. While the global reserves of oil shrink and paraffin prices increase, the only limit to the soy supply is how much we choose to grow. The soy that is in your Aroma Seize candle today was likely in the ground less than a year ago. And chances are that same field is growing more soy for the candles to be made in the future.

In addition to sustainability, a well-made soy candle will burn cleanly and slowly. While the performance and beauty of soy candles speak for themselves, soy wax is a great choice as an eco-friendly, renewable, American grown, sustainable, and carbon neutral product.

What are pthalate-free fragrance oils and why do we use them?

What are phthalates? A word almost impossible to spell and pronounce but definitely worth knowing because of their powerful ability to disrupt our endocrine systems. They are typically used in plastic food and beverage containers, as well as in food production, perfumes, insect repellents, hair sprays, nail polish, deodorants, fragrances, air fresheners and laundry detergents, carpet, vinyl floors, shower curtains, raincoats, plastic toys, plastic car parts, and hospital IV tubing and bags. Meats, cheeses, and other dairy products can also have high levels of phthalates.

In short, pthalates wreak havoc on your hormones, are associated with metabolic syndrome, associated with smaller penis sizes in babies and erectile dysfunction. For women they are associated with menopause and hot flashes. We are passionate about making sure that they are not in ANY of our products.

Allow Your Candle to Burn for at Least 1 Hour!

Don’t light your candle unless you have at least 2 hours for it to burn. You want to burn your candle long enough that that wax is completely liquid for about a quarter-inch from the top. This will greatly increase your burn time and prolong the life of the candle. Make sure that you don’t extinguish your candle before you get that beautiful liquid wax all the way to the edge of the glass.
